My butter robot meme folder got corrupted and I almost gave up on the whole bit
Last Friday I opened my laptop to find my 3 year old butter robot meme folder showing nothing but gray squares, 214 files gone. I panicked and started rebuilding from scratch, but every new edit I made felt flat and forced. Then my buddy Marcus, who runs a tiny Rick and Morty meme page, told me to stop chasing the original folder and just lean into the "what is my purpose" joke with fresh material. I posted one dumb edit of the butter robot staring at a sink full of dirty dishes, and it got more likes in 2 hours than anything from the old folder ever did. It hit me that the memes I lost were mostly reposts of reposts anyway, and the robot's whole deal is not knowing its point, so maybe losing the originals was kind of on theme. Now I'm actually excited to make new stuff instead of hoarding old files like they were sacred. Anyone else ever lose their whole meme stash and end up liking the rebuild better?
