Appreciation post for the YouTube rabbit hole that took me 4 hours to escape

I clicked on a 3-minute video about fixing a vacuum cleaner and ended up watching a guy build a working steam engine from scrap metal. Has anyone else had an algorithm just vanish their whole afternoon like that?

Oh man, "My Mechanics" is exactly the place that does that. I clicked on a video about restoring a rusty old saw once and next thing I know it's 2 AM and I'm watching a guy carefully rebuild a 100 year old lock with nothing but hand tools. The vacuum cleaner thing got me too but it was actually a video about fixing a broken hair dryer that led me into a whole series about rewinding electric motors by hand. I swear that channel could make watching paint dry interesting because they just show every tiny detail. Now my whole recommended feed is just disassembled appliances and tiny gears.

Was that scrap metal engine video from a channel named "My Mechanics"?
