Left my gym a 1 star review over a $12 towel fee and the owner called me at 9pm to argue about it

I finally sat down and wrote honest reviews for a bunch of places I had been putting off, and one of them turned into a whole thing. There is a gym near me in Reno that charged me a surprise $12 towel fee on top of my monthly, which nobody mentioned when I signed up. So I left a 1 star review, just facts, dates, the exact charge, screenshots of the receipt. The owner called me at 9pm that same night and talked for 20 minutes about how unfair online reviews are to small business owners like him. Here is the thing though, he never once said he would take the fee off or list it on the sign up sheet. That call actually made my review stronger, so I updated it to add that he personally called to push back instead of fixing it. I get that a bad review stings, but if your answer is yelling at a customer at night, that tells me more than the towel ever did. Has anyone else had a business try to talk you out of a review instead of just making it right?
