Unpopular opinion: your oven's broiler setting is not a timer, and I learned that the hard way with garlic bread
Watched my roommate walk away from garlic bread under the broiler for "just a minute" and come back to four charred bricks and a smoke alarm screaming. The broiler hits 500 plus degrees in seconds, it does not wait for you to finish scrolling your phone. If you are standing right there watching it, fine, otherwise use the regular bake setting like a person who respects bread.

The "just a minute" thing gets everyone. My sister did the same with a quesadilla once, walked off to answer a text, came back to something that looked like charcoal art. Tortilla was black on both sides and the cheese had turned into this sad burnt crust. Broilers do not mess around, they just go full blast and dare you to look away.
