My macaron fail taught me the oven thermometer is a lie at home

I spent 3 Saturdays in a row blaming humidity for cracked shells, then my neighbor let me borrow her probe therm. My oven said 300, but the rack was hitting 340 near the back. Has anyone else checked temps across different spots, or do you just trust the dial?
