Dropped $24 on a fountain pen for my bujo and my handwriting still looks like a raccoon wrote it

Everyone swore a nice pen would fix my messy lettering so I bought a Pilot Metropolitan at the shop on 5th, but three weeks in my daily logs look the same as when I used a ballpoint. Starting to think the problem is my hand and not the pen. Did a nicer pen actually help anyone here or did you just learn to write slower?
