Why does nobody mention the 6-month check on automatic bill subscriptions?
I used to just set up every subscription on autopay and forget about it. Then last April I actually looked at my bank statement and found $58 a month going to apps I hadn't opened in over a year. Now every six months I set a calendar reminder and go through each one, takes me about an hour. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been paying for something you completely forgot existed?

Plot out a calendar block for that same hour but for canceling instead. The real trap is subscriptions you actually use but only barely, like that gym membership or streaming service you touch twice a month. Those are way harder to kill because your brain goes "well, I might use it someday." Six months is good but you gotta ask if the service is earning its keep, not just if you remember it exists. I found a few that were actually worth keeping once I looked at cost per use, and that changed the whole game for me.
