Showerthought: the week I accidentally tracked every dollar and found $212 I forgot about
My card got flagged last month so I pulled up 3 weeks of statements to prove it was me, and while scrolling I noticed I was paying $8.99 a month for a music app I stopped using back in March. Then I found a $40 refund from a return that never hit my checking, plus about $150 in grocery runs I'd double counted in my head. So I actually had more money than I thought, which almost never happens. Anyone else ever dig through old statements and find stuff they totally forgot about?

Did your friend ever try the subscription audit thing where you list every auto pay for a month? My buddy did that after his card got skimmed at a gas pump and he found like four apps he was still paying for, a storage unit he emptied two years ago, and some cloud backup he never set up on purpose. The storage unit one was the killer, he was paying $65 a month for an empty room for almost a year. He added it all up and it was over $900 a year just gone. Now he checks his statements every Sunday with his coffee and he says it takes ten minutes. Boring as hell but he's saved way more than he ever found in one sitting.
