Vent: That $9 shuttle in Lisbon cost me triple in the long run

Everyone swears by the cheap airport shuttle to city center, but mine dropped me 2 miles from my hostel in a sketchy alley after dark. Paid $27 for a cab the next morning to get my luggage sorted, so the so-called budget option was a trap. Anyone else skip the shuttle and just order a ride share from the gate?
