My stubborn idea about long train rides got flipped on a Europe trip
I always picked flights over trains thinking they were faster and cheaper. But a multi city pass let me see more places for less money and sleep on board. Now I plan routes around overnight trains to save on hotels.

Totally get that. Had the same thing happen on a night train from Vienna to Venice. Woke up with coffee in a new city and it felt like cheating the system.

But isn't that just regular travel? You paid for the ticket and spent the time moving. Calling it cheating makes a simple train ride sound way too special. It's just a smart way to use your hours.

Read an article once about time zone math making overnight travel feel like a free day. It stuck with me because of how @casey485 described that Venice arrival. The trick is bundling sleep and transport into one block, so you land rested without losing daylight hours to sitting on a plane.
