Just got back from a hostel in Nashville that charged $5 just to use a locker

I booked a 4 bed dorm in Nashville thinking I was saving cash, but when I got there they hit me with a $5 fee per day for the locker. The room didn't even have a proper place to lock up my bag otherwise, so I had to pay it. Three nights that's $15 extra on top of the $45 a night room. Has anyone else run into random mandatory fees like this at hostels?

That locker fee sounds annoying but honestly $45 for a Nashville dorm is already pretty cheap so they gotta make money somewhere. A lot of hostels hide costs like that, just part of the budget travel game.

Always worth asking at check-in if they can waive it, I've gotten lucky with that a few times.
