Warning: Bread baking felt too tough, but an easy no-knead fix had me baking weekly.
I always bought pricey loaves because I believed making bread was too much work. After trying a no-knead recipe with just flour, water, yeast, and salt, I now save a good bit of cash. What budget cooking trick did you learn that was a big help?

Roast a whole chicken on weekends for multiple meals. I get one on sale, use the meat for salads and sandwiches, then simmer the carcass for soup broth. Saves me a ton compared to buying pre-cut parts. What's your favorite way to stretch a cheap protein?

Learn to cook a big batch of brown lentils at the start of the week, they're dirt cheap and soak up any flavor you throw at them. I toss them into pasta sauce to make it heartier, mix them with rice, or use them as the base for a salad instead of meat. A single bag costs next to nothing and triples in size when cooked, so it feels like you're beating the system. Who knew a simple soup could fill you up so much without any meat at all?
