Serious question, did anyone else switch from buying chicken breasts to whole birds and actually save money?
I used to grab the $5.99 pack of boneless skinless breasts at Aldi every single week, which was fine until I added it up and saw I was spending close to $50 a month on chicken alone. About 3 months ago I tried a whole roaster for $6.49 and got two dinners plus a pot of stock from the bones. Now I roast one on Sunday and stretch it through Wednesday, and my grocery bill dropped by $60 that first month. The only catch is the carving part took me a few tries to get down. Does anyone have a good way to use the leftover meat besides soup and tacos?
Wait, you were paying $5.99 for ONE pack of chicken breasts at Aldi? That seems kinda high for a single pack. Unless you were buying the big family size or something. I get the smaller packs for like $2.50 to $3 at my Aldi, so maybe prices are just different by region. Still, $50 a month on chicken is a lot, so good on you for finding a cheaper way.
