Just realized my slow cooker actually uses way less power than my oven
Honestly, I never checked the wattage until my electric bill jumped $45 last month after I started roasting everything. I ran a quick test over 3 days, same chicken recipe, oven at 350 for 90 minutes versus slow cooker on low for 6 hours. The oven pulled about 2.4 kWh total, the slow cooker only used 0.9 kWh for the whole cook. That's a 60% drop for basically the same meal, and I don't have to babysit it either. I've been sleeping on this thing for years and now I'm kicking myself. Has anyone else compared their appliances like this, or found an even cheaper way to cook beans and stews?

Wait, so you're telling me the "set it and forget it" gadget is literally saving me money while I sleep on it?
That's wild because I always figured slow cookers were just for people who feared their ovens, not for penny-pinching math nerds with a multimeter.
Guess I'll start bragging about my 60% savings to anyone who'll listen, right before I admit I still can't figure out how to make the crockpot liner not stick.
