The $7 space heater I bought at a Columbus thrift store almost burned my apartment down at 2am
I was running one of those old coil heaters I grabbed for 7 bucks next to my bed last January when I woke up to a burning smell and saw the cord melted into the outlet. I yanked the plug with a towel, threw the heater in the sink, and now I only run space heaters plugged straight into the wall with nothing else on that circuit. Did anyone else learn the hard way that thrift store heaters are a gamble, or am I the only one who got lucky?
