First solo chimney rebuild in Kalamazoo held smoke for a full week
Three weeks ago I finished my first chimney rebuild by myself on a 1920s house in Kalamazoo, and after seven days of daily fires the mortar joints are still tight with no smoke leaking into the attic, which feels like a real win after two failed attempts last fall, so I am wondering if anyone has tips for keeping the crown from cracking in the first freeze.
