My wife bet me I couldn't keep a $4 cereal box on the shelf for a year, so I owe her dinner at that Thai place on Maple
So about 14 months back I grabbed this limited edition cereal at a grocery outlet in Spokane just because the box had a holographic dinosaur that changed when you tilted it. My wife said the box would be in the recycling within two days like everything else I save for no reason and bet me dinner at the Thai spot on Maple that I couldn't keep it in one piece for a whole year. I put it on the top shelf of my closet, way back behind my winter boots, and honestly forgot about it until she brought up the bet last month. Pulled it down and the box is still perfect, corners sharp, dino still shifting colors, no dents, no sun fading, nothing. The cereal inside is probably toxic sludge by now but that was never the point, the point was the box and the bet. She's mad because she thought I'd cave and eat it, which I almost did in March during a bad snowstorm. Anyway I hit the one year mark on a random Tuesday and we celebrated by me taking a photo of the box next to a calendar, and now it lives on my desk like a trophy. Does anyone else keep a stupid bet going way longer than it should, and what was the dumb thing you had to protect to win?
