Vent: My neighbor's bamboo is taking over my yard
Three years ago I planted a small clump of bamboo along the fence line in my backyard in Portland, and last week I found shoots popping up 15 feet away from the original spot, right through my lawn. Has anyone else dealt with a plant that just refuses to stay where you put it?

Wait, did you actually plant it yourself or did the original person mean they planted it? Either way, I feel your pain. That stuff is relentless once it gets going, especially with all the rain we get here in Portland. I've seen people try to contain it with those plastic barriers buried in the ground, but even that doesn't always stop the runners from sneaking underneath. You basically have to dig a trench around the whole area and check it every spring like a madman just to keep it from taking over the whole block. It honestly makes me wonder why anyone plants that stuff on purpose unless they've got a serious privacy fence obsession and no respect for their neighbors' yards.
