Used to baby my fiddle leaf fig with bottled water now I just use tap

Tbh I used to only water my fiddle leaf fig with filtered bottled water because I read somewhere that tap water chemicals could hurt it. Did that for like 6 months and spent probably $40 on water just for one plant. Then last spring I got lazy and used tap water straight from the sink and nothing happened, the leaves didn't even brown. Now I just fill a jug and let it sit out overnight before using it, saves me money and time. Has anyone else stopped doing some extra step they thought was necessary?

Started boiling my tap water for orchids until I realized room temp works just fine too.

For a while I was the same way with my calathea, only used distilled water because everyone online says they're dramatic. Then I had a month where I just couldn't make it to the store and used tap water. The thing didn't even curl its leaves. Made me realize half this stuff is overblown advice from people who never actually tested it. Now I just let my tap water sit out for a day and call it good.
