Update: Succulents are popping up on every balcony I see

I just learned that drought-tolerant plants are getting HUGE in urban areas. They handle the heat better and still bloom. It's cool how plant choices shift with the weather.

Your "never saw the appeal" phase is something I've experienced. The trick is to give it a proper try without any pressure. You often need that hands-on time for it to click.
