Rant: That 'archived forever' museum site turned out to be a scam

I was dead sure this one site claiming to preserve every old government document since 1975 was legit, they even had a .org domain and a donate button. Three months back I paid $40 for a 'rare' 1982 zoning map of Cleveland that never showed up. Then I ran a reverse image search on their sample scans and every single one came from the National Archives for free. The comments section was locked, so no one could warn anybody. It took me 6 weeks and two chargeback attempts to get my money back. Has anyone else gotten burned by a fake archive site that looked too official to question?
