A 2003 forum post about onion routing turned out to be scarily accurate

Found a dusty old webring page from 2003 that described how to browse anonymously using onion routing, back when it was basically a college experiment. The guy who wrote it, some sysadmin in Ohio named Dave, said it would become the standard way people hide online. He was dead right, and now I spend half my Bounty hunting trying to find sites that look like they belong on that era's Geocities. The weird part is his step by step guide still works today, just with newer software. I followed it last week to check out a live webcam of a parking lot in Akron that's been up since 2009. Has anyone else found predictions in old tech forums that actually held up better than the modern experts? It kind of makes me wish I saved more of those clunky HTML pages.
