Pro tip: the guy who tunes the pipe organ at the old theater in Syracuse has a job nobody thinks about
I got a tour of the Landmark Theatre in Syracuse a couple weeks back and spent 20 minutes watching this one guy crawl around inside the organ chambers with a little flashlight and a tuning tool, fixing maybe 3 reeds out of 4,000 pipes. Some folks would call that the most boring job on earth, just one note at a time in a dark room, but he says he can hear a pipe that is 2 cents flat from the lobby doors, which honestly sounds like a superpower. Is it a boring job that happens to be cool, or a cool job that just looks boring from the outside?
