Used to glue every spine straight with PVA, now I let the rounding happen naturally after watching a binder in Portland do it.

Changed my whole approach last year after a 60-book run where half the spines cracked because I forced them flat - anyone else ditch PVA for spine shaping?

Did you notice any difference in how the books opened after you stopped forcing them?

Oh man, totally! That's a great question @eric_wright77. I had the exact same thing happen with a few series I was reading. It was wild because once I stopped trying to force my way through a book every single night, the pages just started flying by when I did pick them up. I used to put so much pressure on myself to hit a certain chapter count, and it made reading feel like a chore. But when I just let it be, I found myself actually looking forward to sitting down with a book again. It's like my brain finally relaxed and let the story take over instead of fighting it.
