Switched from PVA to wheat paste on my last 3 rebinds and I'm never going back
I always figured PVA was fine for spine work until a bindery guy in Omaha showed me how wheat paste lets the signatures slide into place while PVA locks up too fast and pulls everything crooked. Anyone else keep both on the bench, or is it just paste for everything now?

Wheat paste did the same thing for me on a batch of old paperbacks where the spines were tight and warped. PVA grabs too quick, so by the time you get the whole spine lined up it's already set and fighting you. Paste gives you that working time to slide things where they need to go. I still keep PVA around for case work and gluing boards, since paste takes forever to dry and I get impatient. For spine and signature work though, paste wins every time.
