Rant: my awl punched straight through a signature on the second to last section
I was sewing a 320 page text block on cords and my old awl drifted in the gutter, splitting a fold on signature 18, so I backed out the thread and remade the hole with a pin vise and a 0.8mm bit before finishing the rest of the block at the kitchen table around 11pm, and now I'm wondering if anyone here has a trick for keeping the awl square on deep sections or if I just need to slow down.
