Just blew $80 on a 'premium' bone folder that snapped after two projects, so are the expensive ones actually worth it or should we just stick with the basic Teflon ones?
I'm torn because the weight and finish felt amazing, but my old $12 one has lasted for years without a single crack, so what's your take on tool investment versus simple reliability?

That $12 Teflon folder lasting years is the real test. A premium tool shouldn't break that fast, you just got a bad one. The expensive ones are worth it if they're from a known brand with a good warranty, otherwise you're just paying for the feel. My nice one is from Bone Folder Dot Com and it's been solid for five years now.

@ben_hall sounds like he's the one paying for the "feel" while his folders nap in pieces. Guess the real flex is a $12 folder that refuses to die.

Ever think you were paying for better quality? That snap just proved price tags lie sometimes.
