Update: the old hand in Hammond told me to quit running my root pass so hot
I've been welding tube for 9 years and always figured hotter meant deeper penetration, but he said I was just pulling sulfur up into the puddle on this 2 inch sch 80 job. Anybody else had a fitter or old timer drop a tip like that on you mid shift?
Does he mean sulfur from the pipe itself? I ran into that on some foreign sch 80 years back and just thought my machine was acting up. Old timers really do know stuff you can't learn from a chart.
