Tried tacking a test plate at 45 degrees instead of flat, and my bead looked like a snake that gave up
Last Tuesday at the shop in Gary I flipped my practice plate to a 45 degree angle thinking it would help me get used to vertical work, and my welds came out way lumpier than usual. The puddle kept running on me because I had the amps set for flat work and never bumped them up for the new position, which I figured out after about 5 ugly passes. What position do you all practice in most, and do you change your heat settings much when you switch, or just drag the rod faster?
