TIL a 70 year old boilermaker can still school you on welding techniques

I was brazing a crack in a boiler tube last Tuesday and an old timer named Hank walked by. He said my puddle was too wide and my torch angle was off by 10 degrees. He showed me his way in 30 seconds and the weld came out perfect. Has anyone else had a veteran worker completely change how you do a routine task?

Old guys like that have forgotten more than we'll ever know.

Yeah until they forget where they parked for the 4th time in an hour lol. Then again they probably also remember when a gallon of gas cost a nickel so maybe it balances out.
