That time a torch flashback cost me a 5 foot ladder and a full day

I was working up in Edmonds on a job, redoing some old boiler casing near the roof line. I dropped my rosebud tip in a hurry because the line snagged, and the flashback hit the hose before I could shut the valve. The ladder and a spare coil of hose were right there, caught fire fast, and I had to jump back while it burned off. Took me the rest of the day to sort out new lines and get the job back on track, plus about $180 in replacement gear. The foreman just shook his head and said "that's why we keep the bottles far apart" but nobody had marked the area. Any of you had a flashback that wrecked more than a hose, and do you walk the whole site before you start now?
