Had to choose between a Miller and a Lincoln for my first big rig
I was looking at used welders for months and finally had to pick between a Miller 250 and a Lincoln 256 for a job in Baton Rouge. I went with the Miller because the guy selling it threw in a new spool gun for free. Has anyone else regretted a welder choice down the road or am I overthinking it?

Free spool gun makes that a no-brainer. I've run both brands for years and they'll both get the job done, just don't second guess it now. The Miller will treat you fine as long as you keep the drive rolls clean.

Respectfully gotta disagree with you @jade47 on this one. I ran a Miller for about two years and it was nothing but trouble with the wire feed, even keeping those drive rolls spotless. Swapped over to a Hobart and dialed it in way faster with way less fuss. Maybe I just got a lemon, but that free spool gun ain't worth the headache if the machine fights you the whole time.
