A 4-inch steam line fitting gave out on me last Thursday
We were doing a pressure test on a new boiler install in the old mill building downtown. The elbow just split at the seam, sent a jet of steam across the room. What's your go-to method for checking used fittings before you put them under pressure?
Man, that's rough. I always hit old fittings with a wire brush first to check for deep pitting you can't see under the grime. Sometimes the outside looks fine but it's paper thin.
