My game group keeps calling the 'banker' in Monopoly the 'bank teller' and it drives me nuts.

Is it just me or do people love to rename things that already have a perfectly good name? I see this all the time, like calling a remote a "clicker" or a tissue a "Kleenex." It feels like a weird need to correct something that isn't even wrong. They probably think "banker" sounds too fancy for a board game job. Drives me up the wall too, because the rules literally call it the banker.

Yeah and it's always the person who insists on the wrong name too, like they're teaching you something. I once had a friend call it the "money guy" for a whole game of Monopoly and I just gave up, @andrew7. I'm guilty of it too though, I call all adhesive bandages "Band-Aids" and my wife corrects me every single time. Maybe we all just want to feel like we have some control over the little things.
