Picked a plain GeoCities page over a fancy builder for my grandpa's recipes, and the ugly one won
Honestly everybody in the retro web group kept telling me to use the new drag and drop builder for my grandpa's tamale recipe page, but I stuck with hand coding raw HTML in a plain text editor like it was 1999. The builder looked nice, but it kept stuffing 300KB of scripts into every page and the recipes loaded slow on my mom's old phone in El Paso. My hand coded version is 11KB total, loads instant, and the only visitor I get is my aunt, which is fine by me. Tbh I think half the people pushing those builders never check how heavy the pages get. Has anyone here kept a site dead simple on purpose and had it bite them later?
