Vent: That customer who kept telling me how to weld, while I was running his job

Last month I had this guy come in with a busted trailer hitch for his landscaping rig. He stood right over my shoulder for two hours telling me how he watched some YouTube video about mig welding. Kept saying I needed to turn up the heat and move slower, even though I've been doing this for 12 years. I finally stopped the weld and handed him the gun. Said "show me how it's done." He stared at me for a solid 10 seconds, mumbled something about having to get back to work, and walked to his truck. Thing is, he came back the next day and apologized. Said his cousin who's a welder told him he was being a jerk. Anyone else ever have a customer try to micromanage your forge or anvil work?

Ngl he was probably trying to help, not micromanage you.

Wait, really? You think that guy was just trying to help? @rubyj11 have you ever had someone breathe down your neck for two hours telling you how to do your job while you're literally the one with the certification and 12 years of experience? That's not help, that's disrespect. It's like walking into a mechanic shop and telling them how to change your oil because you watched a five minute video last night. He was lucky the welder just handed him the gun instead of telling him to leave. The apology proves he knew he was wrong, not that he was some well-meaning guy. Nobody stands over a pro's shoulder for two hours unless they think they know better.
