I finally tried a copper damascus billet and got a mess instead
Spent last Sunday forge welding a copper and 1080 stack at around 2100 degrees, but the copper just melted out and left these ugly voids all through the billet. I thought the temp was good since I used a digital pyrometer, but the copper's melting point is way lower than steel and it basically turned into liquid before the weld took. Anyone else run into this and end up switching to bronze or nickel instead?
