Bought a cheap anvil stand kit online and it fell apart in under a month
Saw a 'heavy duty' anvil stand kit on a discount site for $120 and thought I was getting a deal. It was just cheap pine with pre-drilled holes and some basic lag bolts. The wood started splitting after about two weeks of light hammering. Last Tuesday, the whole thing just gave way and my 150lb anvil hit the shop floor, chipping the base. Now I'm out the $120 plus the cost of proper lumber to build a real stand. What's the best wood you guys use for a solid, long-lasting stand? I'm thinking oak this time.

Ugh, that's the worst. I mean, it feels like everything's just cheap junk now, built to fail so you buy it again.

Honestly, that line about things being built to fail really hits home now. I used to believe buying the cheaper option was just being smart with money. But my last blender died after like six months and my mom's from the 90s still works perfect. Tbh it made me see it's not about price, it's about them not making stuff to last anymore.
