Appreciation post: my bookmarks folder of 30 public domain maps beats the 4 mapping sites I pay for
I had a paid map subscription plus three free tools open in tabs for a trip to Boise, but a folder I saved 3 years ago from the Library of Congress site had better old street layouts and I never opened the paid ones once, so now I want to know if anyone else has a dusty bookmark that quietly outdid a thing they pay for.
Honestly the dusty bookmark is a nice story but it probably bailed you out on one trip to Boise, not the way paid maps work the rest of the year. Old street layouts are fixed and free to pull, while live traffic, closures, and reviews take people and money to keep running. Tbh I'd keep paying for the one you use most and let the free folder handle the history stuff.
