Just realized the 'just snug it' torque advice is why I keep stripping 5mm stem bolts
Had a guy bring in a bike last week with the stem clamp bolt torqued to what felt like 12 Nm, and when I asked how he tightened it he said he just went by feel since the manual "seemed too fussy," which is exactly why the steerer tube was cracked at the clamp edge and why I now keep a torque wrench within arm's reach for every stem job, so does anyone have a cheap beam-style wrench they actually trust for the small stuff?
