Pro tip: dropping my drum loop 15 bpm in Ableton made my worst beat actually catchy
I had this beat sitting around for 3 weeks that sounded like a broken dishwasher, just clanking and off time no matter what I did with the kick pattern. On a whim I dragged the whole thing from 140 bpm down to 125 and suddenly the weird off beat hi hats turned into this lazy strut that my roommate started humming in the kitchen. Then I slapped a single cowbell hit on the 3 and it went from trash to something I'd actually play at a party. Anyone else find that just messing with tempo saved a beat you were about to delete?
