My cousin's 2009 mixtape went from unlistenable to my favorite thing after I swapped one cable
My cousin gave me a burned CD of his rap tracks back in 2009 and I laughed at it for a decade straight. Every beat was a Casio keyboard preset with a kick drum that sounded like someone flicking a Tupperware lid, and the vocals clipped on every hook. Last week I dug it out and played it through my garage receiver instead of laptop speakers, and something clicked in about 30 seconds. The "broken" mix was just too much low end for tiny speakers, and once it had room to breathe the whole thing sounded like a weird lo-fi tape you'd find in a Detroit thrift store. Now I play it on purpose when I'm doing oil changes. Has anyone else had a track that only works on one specific setup?

Did the same thing happen with the order you played it, like did the songs only make sense in sequence? I swear some of those old burns got mixed for car speakers and nothing else, so closet subs and bass knobs are half the whole sound. Bet if you ripped it off that receiver and threw it back on a laptop it would sound like trash again.
