That 14 hour bus ride from Chicago to Denver made me never skip layovers again

My cheap self booked the direct overnight bus because it was $45 cheaper than the flight. Big mistake. We hit construction outside Omaha and sat still for 3 hours. Then the guy behind me watched videos on full volume for the whole stretch through Nebraska. The driver stopped at a gas station that only had one working bathroom. By hour 11 I was seriously considering just getting off in some random town and figuring it out. Landed in Denver at 7am feeling like I had been awake for three days. Never again. Has anyone else had a supposedly faster option turn into a nightmare?
