Had to choose between a refurbished ThinkPad and a cheap Chromebook for my kid's schoolwork last month
Picked the ThinkPad for $180 and it's already survived two drops off the kitchen table while the Chromebook would have cracked for sure, anyone else dealing with this choice for their own setup?

Solid choice going with the ThinkPad honestly. Those things are built like tanks and even refurbished ones usually have way better build quality than a cheap new Chromebook. My buddy bought a budget Chromebook for his daughter and it ended up with a cracked hinge after like three months just from normal backpack carrying, so the ThinkPad was probably the smarter move for durability especially with kids.

@avery_walker30 that hinge thing is the exact reason I'd rather have a clunky old ThinkPad than a sleek new anything. Ever notice how "affordable" laptops just cut corners in the spots you actually notice?
