Watch out for that storage unit place off I-44, the demo tapes are getting ruined

I went down to that Big Oak Self Storage near the old closed gas station on Route 66 last weekend to grab some boxes from my cousin's band days. The owner let me wander past the row of units and I noticed a bunch of unlabeled tape reels sitting in a open crate right by the damp concrete wall. Water stains were creeping up the cardboard cases and the reels themselves had this green fuzz on the edges, total mold city. My cousin said those were from a 1994 session at a farmhouse studio in Joplin that never got mixed. The guy running the place just shrugged and said 'they been there since the last tenant skipped out in 2019.' If you got old masters or even rough demos stored anywhere with shared walls or ground contact, go check them this week. That humidity does not care how many takes you nailed. Has anyone else lost irreplaceable tapes to a storage unit disaster?
