Vent: my 2009 iPod dock sounded better than my new soundbar until I swapped one cable
I dug out my old iHome dock from a box in the garage last month and plugged it in next to the TV, and the little thing filled my whole apartment with cleaner sound than the soundbar I got two Christmases ago. The real change happened when I ran a $4 aux cable from the dock's headphone jack instead of using the dock connector, and the muddy buzz just vanished. Same speakers, same room, same music, but that one swap made it sound like a different device. Now I'm second guessing every cheap upgrade I've made since. What's the oldest piece of gear in your place that still outdoes the new stuff?
