TIL a $4 RCA to coax adapter turned my dead 1994 camcorder into a working webcam
Bought a Sony Handycam at a garage sale in Reno for $12. No drivers exist for it anymore, so the USB port was useless. Then I ran the yellow video cable into a $4 RCA to coax adapter, screwed it onto an old VCR, and the VCR's coax out into a $9 USB capture stick. Now it streams to my laptop fine at 480i. Anyone else still chaining dead gear together to keep it alive?
That $4 RCA to coax adapter is the real hero here. Reminds me of when I hooked my old Gamecube up through a VCR just to get it on a flat screen. The chain of dying tech somehow always works if you plug enough junk in between.
