Showerthought: everyone says old routers are dead weight, but my 2009 Linksys still runs my whole garage
I keep seeing folks on here say anything past 802.11n is e-waste, but my WRT54GL on the shelf in the garage has been pushing a camera feed and a print server for 6 hours a day without a single dropout. The trick nobody mentions is flashing it with DD-WRT and locking it to channel 6 so the neighbors' mesh gear stops stepping on it. It won't win any speed tests, but for a $4 flea market find in Tucson it does the one job I need. What's the oldest box still pulling duty at your place?
