Showerthought: a guy at the flea market said my $15 boombox setup was 'too much wire', and it hit me
I've been running a 2004 Sony boombox off a $15 inverter in my kitchen for about 8 months now, mostly for AM radio and burnt CDs. Last Saturday at the Raleigh flea market, a vendor looked at my rat's nest of cables behind the shelf and just said, 'you're losing signal in all that slack.' I laughed it off, but then I went home and cut the extra cable down from 12 feet to 3. The static on 680 AM dropped so much I thought the station had moved. Turns out all that coiled wire was basically an antenna picking up every fridge and microwave hum in the house. Anyone else got a cheap fix like that where you felt dumb for not knowing sooner?
