My $6 alarm clock from a garage sale in Spokane still wakes me up better than my phone
I used to set 4 alarms on my phone every night and still slept through half of them, which made me late to work 3 times in one month back in 2021. Then I found this beat up GE alarm clock at a garage sale in Spokane for 6 bucks, and the lady selling it told me her husband used it for 20 years before he passed. The thing has a real bell hammer that shakes my whole nightstand, and I can't snooze it without physically getting up to hit the button. Now I leave my phone charging in the kitchen and the clock does all the work. My phone alarm was too easy to swipe away half asleep, so I'd just roll over and go back to sleep. Has anyone else gone back to an old school alarm, or am I the only one who can't be trusted with my own phone?
My dad gave me his old Sony Dream Machine from like 1998 and that thing is brutal in the best way. The buzzer sounds like a fire drill and there's no snooze unless you're awake enough to find the right button in the dark, which you never are. Phones are too easy to silence, so leaving it in another room is honestly the move.
